Today we studied how to correctly write a news story. We were given a sheet of information about this cycling incident and told to make it into out own news story. Here is what I came up with:

A competitive cyclist was saved by spectator after life threatening collision with two joy riders.

Lance Anderson, 26, has been participating in competitive cycling for six years. After being the runner up last year in the Oxshire Road Race Championship he decided to partake in the event again this year which took place yesterday.
Lance was cited as the favourite to win the race and it appeared that he was going due to the fact he was well in from as he began to disembark down Radcliffe Mountain.
It was here however that a red ford escort was reported to loose control and collide straight into the cyclist, then drive away from the scene.

Joanne Pinto, 54, was passing by Radcliffe Mountain when she witnessed the incident ensue. She said: “It was awful. He was blue and appeared to have stopped breathing.”
She then followed on to explain how she was first aid trained which led her to check her pulse and administer the kiss of life.
She then said: “To my immense relief, after a couple of minutes, he started to breathe and some colour returned to his face.”

An ambulance was called by Mrs. Pinto which arrived within minutes. Later on she contacted  St. Mary’s hospital in order to check on his condition. The hospital informed her that Lance was critically ill with multiple injuries – but the resuscitation had saved him.

Two joyriders who were in the Ford Escort have been arrested by Police who have began questioning. Lance’s wife Pauline, 24, said later: “I can’t thank Mrs Pinto enough for what she did. The doctors are optimistic that Lance will pull through.”
